![]() Sustainable Business Ideas Competition Sponsored by Ablett & Stebbing Patent Attorneys, Estates and Buildings (University of Dundee), Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Dundee Sun City and Firstport. The competition is open to all currently matriculated students from Dundee College, University of Dundee and the University of Abertay, Dundee in teams of up to four or as individuals. The aim of the competition is to find the best new business idea to help reduce the human carbon footprint. There are four prizes of £250, one for the best business idea relating to each of the four themes: food and water, energy and transport, built environment and social enterprise. For business ideas that don’t relate closely to any one of the above there is a special “general” category also with a £250 prize for the best entry. So, if you have thought of an innovative product (or service) that, if purchased and used by customers, will reduce their (or the community’s) carbon footprint then complete the form below and email (entering “DS3C Sustainability Competition” as the subject text) to c.mckirgan@dundee.ac.uk by 5pm, 6 November, 2009. Entries for each theme will be judged* by a panel of 3 judges for that theme comprising Trudy Cunningham (chair of the Judges Panel), an executive from the sponsor’s organisation and a relevant academic member of staff. The winners for each theme will be announced on the DS3C website on Thursday 12 November at 12 noon. *Judging Criteria: Judges will be looking at Environmental sustainability of new product/service Originality of new product/service Effectiveness of new product/service (at reducing carbon footprint – perhaps an estimate of amount of CO2 saved) Technical Feasibility (of producing/providing new product/service) Business Feasibility (of attracting investment) |
